Opening Paragraph: For this assignment, I chose to shoot pictures of light painting. To light paint, you put the camera on a really long exposure (several seconds) and move around different sources of light in a dark space. If the painter wears dark clothing and stays out of the light, then he can avoid getting caught in the picture. This way, the camera only catches the light and you can "paint" images. I invited some of my friends over and tried several different techniques, including going to a highway, spinning around burning steel wool inside of a whisk, and drawing with balls of Christmas lights. All of the photos involved lots of editing, which reminded me of the significance and limits of photo retouching.
Best Photo:
Exposure Triangle: ISO: 100 Aperture: f/5.0 Shutter Speed: 15.0 | There was actually a lot of editing put into this photo. Due to having a mix of feet and chords on the ground, I had to use the stamp tool to practically recreate the entire tiled floor. I also had to work with the coloring/brightness to make it "glow." |
